Arriving in Ireland & registering your permission

If you are from outside the EU, UK or Switzerland and you are coming to Ireland for more than 90 days, you generally need to register your immigration permission with Immigration Service Delivery.

First-time registration

First-time immigration registration in the Republic of Ireland is handled by Immigration Service Delivery. Appointments are required and are booked through the official Customer Service system. The national Registration Office is at Burgh Quay in Dublin.

IRP card

After successful registration, you receive an Irish Residence Permit (IRP) card. This is evidence of your registered immigration permission and the conditions attached to it.

Stamp 2 students

For an English-language student registered on Stamp 2, the course must meet the current eligible-programme requirements and attendance/progression conditions also apply.
