Financial Requirements for studying in Ireland

Irish Immigration requires students to show that they can support themselves during their stay without depending on public funds or casual employment.

Current official thresholds

For courses resulting in residence of more than 8 months, current Immigration Service Delivery guidance uses €10,000. For courses resulting in residence of 8 months or less, it uses €833 per month or €6,665 in total, whichever is the lesser amount.

The exact evidence you need also depends on whether you are visa-required or non-visa-required and on your personal funding situation.

Accessible money matters

A bank balance alone is not always the whole story. Funds should be genuinely available for your study stay, and large or unusual lodgements may need explanation. If you are using a sponsor or a financial product with withdrawal restrictions, make sure the documentation clearly shows what money is actually accessible.
