Living in Dublin: plan your budget

We would rather help you build a realistic plan than publish a scary “Dublin costs €X per month” headline that becomes outdated quickly.

Think in five buckets

Accommodation

Your biggest decision: location, room type and how long you book initially.

Groceries

One of the easiest areas to manage through planning and cooking.

Transport

Where you live changes how much you need to travel each week.

Phone & essentials

Small recurring costs matter more over an eight-month stay.

Social life

Mix paid activities with the many free ways to enjoy Dublin.

Do not build your budget around getting a job immediately

Eligible students may be allowed to work, but job-search timing varies. Arrive with enough funds for your initial living costs and treat future work income as additional support rather than your arrival plan.

Immigration funds are a separate question

The financial evidence required for immigration is not the same thing as a personal monthly budget. We keep those two topics separate so the guidance stays clear.
